For reasons unknown, our web site (and its affiliated download sites) have been the target of a simultaneous Usenet & Email spam Joe-Job, numerous examples of which have been archived by Google.
joe-job: n., vt.
- A spam run forged to appear as though it came from an innocent party, who is then generally flooded by the bounces; or, the act of performing such a run. The original incident is described here.
This is a malicious attempt to make CryptoSMS appear to be some kind of malware, when in fact, CryptoSMS is one of the strongest SMS security applications available for mobile devices.
The simple explanation is that some miscreants are unhappy with the fact that experts from Usenet's Sci.Crypt could not crack the CryptoSMS challenge messages, and they have now resorted to an underhanded attempt to get the CryptoSMS sites removed.
During the USA's 2004 elections, the Vote Nader organisation was attacked in a very similar way.
These types of smear campaigns are designed to cause grief for the victim, as well as to tarnish their reputation.
If you have seen an article on Usenet or received an Email message, either of which
attempted to download CryptoSMS from one of our affiliates, please send a copy of
the offending item to
,
so that we can track the source of this network abuse.
With the advent of dnsBLs like
SPEWS and peoples' personal
plonk lists, a successful
Joe-Job can really hurt; so please help CryptoSMS to pass along complaints to the correct ISP by forwarding
us as many examples of this nasty Joe-Job as possible. Thanks!
